Couples & family
Honest, structured work that makes room for every voice. For partners, parents and the relationships that hold a life together.
Couples and family therapy at The Mind Faculty is structured counselling for partners, parents and families who want to understand the patterns they're caught in and change them together. Our relationship and family counsellors in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, offer couples therapy, marriage counselling, pre-marital counselling, family therapy and parenting support, in person or by video.
Relationships are where most of us feel things most strongly, and where the same argument can run for years without anyone quite seeing why. Couples and family work gives you a neutral, skilled third person in the room whose job is to help everyone be heard, name the pattern, and try something different.
Our counsellors work with couples at every stage, from preparing for marriage to long partnerships under strain, and with families navigating parenting, adolescence, blended households and the tensions between generations. Where one person's anxiety, depression or past trauma is part of the picture, individual therapy or psychiatric care can run alongside within the faculty.

What to expect
How couples & family works here
A joint first session
Everyone who's coming attends together, usually for 60 to 90 minutes. The counsellor hears each person's view of what brings you in and what you each want, and starts to map the pattern you're stuck in.
Understanding the pattern
Over the next few sessions the work gets specific: how conflict starts and escalates, what each person is really asking for underneath, and where trust or connection has worn thin.
Trying something different
Practical work on communication, repair after arguments, boundaries with family, and rebuilding closeness. You'll practise between sessions and review what's shifting.
Consolidating
Sessions space out as things steady. Some couples return for a check-in later; that's a normal part of keeping a relationship well.

Questions people ask
Couples & family, answered
How much does couples counselling cost in Kuala Lumpur?
Fees depend on the counsellor and session length, and couples sessions are longer than individual ones. Message us on WhatsApp or through the contact form and we'll give you clear figures before you commit.
Can we do couples therapy online?
Yes. Video sessions work well for couples, including partners in different locations. Tell us your preference when you book.
Is couples therapy only for marriages in crisis?
No. Many couples come to strengthen a good relationship, prepare for marriage, or work through a specific decision. Coming early usually makes the work shorter.
What if we've already decided to separate?
Counselling can still help, with separating well, co-parenting, and what each of you takes forward. Our counsellors work with couples at every point, including endings.
Do you offer family therapy for teenagers?
Yes. Family sessions are often the most effective way to support a struggling teenager, alongside or instead of individual therapy. Our counsellors and child and adolescent specialists work together on this.
